Mike's OG Rare Pepes
Mike drew Series 1, Card 1. On 9 September 2016 he put RAREPEPE on the Bitcoin blockchain as a Counterparty asset, 300 issued, with "The most rare pepe that has ever existed" written into the transaction. Rare Pepes were on 4chan years before that — what began here was the series, and this is the card it begins with. Four days later came GOXPEPE, Card 2, 1,500 issued: Mark Karpelès, and the exchange that lost everybody's coins. The green face on Card 1 is Dorian Nakamoto — the engineer Newsweek named as the creator of Bitcoin in 2014, wrongly. The card is a joke about the press, not a portrait.
Both cards are here on shirts, stickers, mugs and totes, printed exactly as drawn: every pixel of the original, enlarged by whole-number steps only. Nothing smoothed, nothing sharpened, no AI anywhere near the artwork. Licensed directly from Mike — see our artist terms. 20% of net revenue on everything in this collection is his, held for him until he says where it goes.
