GOXPEPE — In this moment we are euphoric · Unisex t-shirt
Series 1, Card 2. Issued 13 September 2016 — four days after RAREPEPE, from the same Bitcoin address. Fifteen hundred were minted, and fifteen hundred remain.
The green face is Mark Karpelès, who ran Mt. Gox: the Tokyo exchange that handled most of the world's Bitcoin trading until February 2014, when withdrawals stopped, the exchange collapsed, and several hundred thousand customer bitcoin went missing. The line across the bottom is widely read as a riff on the 2013 internet's favourite sentence about being enlightened by one's own intelligence. Put in the mouth of Mt. Gox, it stops being about atheism and starts being about a market that felt very clever right up until it didn't.
Centred on the front, printed exactly as it exists on-chain: every pixel of Mike's 400-by-560 original, enlarged by whole-number steps only. Nothing smoothed, nothing sharpened, no AI. Card size 2.67 by 3.73 inches, with the asset name set nearly seven inches wide beneath it and the series under that.
Artwork by Mike. Licensed directly from the artist — see our artist terms. 20% of net revenue on every one of these is Mike's, held for him until he says where it goes.
A t-shirt, not a GOXPEPE. Neither is redeemable at the exchange.
100% combed and ring-spun cotton (Heather colors contain polyester)
Fabric weight: 4.2 oz./yd.² (142 g/m²)
Pre-shrunk fabric
Side-seamed construction
Shoulder-to-shoulder taping
Blank product sourced from Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, or the US
Prefer it on the left chest, with the name small beneath the card? Same card, same size, different shirt — the left-chest print is here.
Disclaimer: The fabric is slightly sheer in lighter colours. Your euphoria may be equally transparent.
