RAREPEPE — The Nakamoto Card · Unisex t-shirt
On 9 September 2016, a 400-by-560-pixel drawing was attached to the Bitcoin blockchain as a Counterparty asset called RAREPEPE. Three hundred were issued. The description Mike wrote into the transaction reads "The most rare pepe that has ever existed"; fourteen minutes later he added "Nakamoto rare pepe card", and that is the name it has carried since.
The green face is Dorian Nakamoto — the engineer Newsweek named as the creator of Bitcoin in 2014, wrongly. He said so at the time and he was right. The card is a joke about the press, not a portrait of Satoshi.
Two of the three hundred have since been burned, one of them with "FROM RAREPEPES.COM WITH LOVE" written into the transaction. Two hundred and ninety-eight remain.
This is that card, on the left chest, printed exactly as it exists: every pixel of the original, enlarged by whole-number steps only. Nothing smoothed, nothing sharpened, nothing "enhanced". No AI touched the card. The card measures 2.67 by 3.73 inches, which is the largest it can be at full print quality from the file Mike drew it in. Beneath it, the asset name and the series, so the person asking "what is that" gets an answer.
Artwork by Mike. Licensed directly from the artist — see our artist terms. 20% of net revenue on every one of these is Mike's, held for him until he says where it goes.
To be clear about what you're buying: a t-shirt. It is not a RAREPEPE. The remaining 298 are elsewhere, and doing fine.
100% combed and ring-spun cotton (Heather colors contain polyester)
Fabric weight: 4.2 oz./yd.² (142 g/m²)
Pre-shrunk fabric
Side-seamed construction
Shoulder-to-shoulder taping
Blank product sourced from Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, or the US
Prefer it centred, with the name set large across the chest? Same card, same size, different shirt — the front print is here.
Disclaimer: The fabric is slightly sheer in lighter colours. The provenance is not.
