Mark Karpelès ran Mt. Gox until February 2014, when withdrawals stopped and the exchange went down with several hundred thousand customer bitcoin. The line across the card is widely read as a riff on the 2013 post about being enlightened by one's own intelligence — for people who remember exactly where they were the day the euphoria stopped.
